The main house has been restored, keeping the original features, and adding carefully selected antique furniture. The building is primarily 18th century (the fireplace in chambre 1, pictured left, has the date 1761 carved in it), although parts of it may date back much further (the house is built on the site of one of the four gates to the medievil fortified town). The house built as the présbytere for the eglise du chateau, which is no longer a church, but used to exhibit tapestries and other arts. Later it was used as the Director's house for the building school (built in 1911, next door, and now home to a digital loom - part of Felletin's rich history of tapestry). Since then it has been used as tax office: it has always been an important part of the town.
